July- Floral Influences & Inspiration

Floral Influences & Inspiration

Hello July! Wishing you all a very happy 4th of July with friends and family.

We love finding you fun ways to look at jewelry and its impact on our day-to-day lives!

This year we’ve decided to look at flowers - what flowers are associated with each month and their influences on jewelry.

We hope you have as much fun with this as our previous newsletters and learn some interesting facts along the way!

Thank you for taking this journey with me.

Larkspur & Water Lily

Lucky July is another month that has two beautiful birth flowers, Larkspur & Water Lily

Larkspur is the primary flower of the month and Water Lily is considered the secondary. Both are equally beautiful and interesting to me.

Larkspur symbolizes a beautiful spirit, lightness, and pure fun.

Larkspur belongs to the Buttercup family. It comes in a broad range of vibrant colors…indigo, blue, pink, purple and white. Known also as delphinium, larkspur is a group of tall, elegant flowering plants known for their vibrant colors. They are native to the northern hemisphere and with their height, they add a striking appearance and drama to any garden beds.

The Water Lily (or lotus) is a powerful symbol of purity, spiritual awakening, and enlightenment.

These aquatic plants are unique lotus-like flowers. They produce round, floating leaves. They are both stunning and fragrant as they float on the surface of lakes and ponds.

Their color ranges from white to pink to yellow to red and are often grown for their beauty and to provide shade to their aquatic ecosystems.

Did You Know

Larkspur

Larkspur is toxic to both animals and humans due to its poisonous alkaloids. The leaves and seeds can cause skin irritation when touched, best to wear gloves if handling them.

Water Lily

Water Lily
In ancient Egypt and China, water lilies were used in traditional medicine for their healing properties.

Fun Facts

Larkspur The name “delphinium” comes from Greek meaning “delphis” or dolphin. It got this name because the flower’s nectar spur resembles a dolphin. Many cultures throughout history believed larkspur could ward off evil, and would it in their garden or near their front doors as a symbol of protection.

Fun Facts

Water Lily The leaves of water lilies are hydrophobic which means they repel water and dirt. This helps to keep them clean!

Our Fabio Angri collection on my website is inspired by flora and fauna, which was in turn the inspiration for these fun newsletters.
